Using this website

You may read this site and use it to get in touch with us. You may not misuse it — that means no attempt to gain unauthorised access, no interference with how it runs, no automated collection of content at a scale that burdens it, and nothing unlawful.

Certification is governed by a separate agreement

Nothing on this website is an offer to certify, a quotation, or a commitment to any timescale or outcome. Certification work begins only when we and the client organisation sign a certification agreement, and it is that agreement, together with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17021-1, the applicable standard and the rules of our accreditation, that governs the work.

A certificate is issued only where the evidence supports it. Where this site describes how quickly we work, it describes our process, not a guaranteed result.

Information on this site

We write the guidance on this site — the articles, the comparisons, the explanations of what a standard asks for — in good faith and keep it current as best we can. It is general information about how certification works, not advice on your particular situation, and it is not a substitute for reading the standard itself or taking professional advice.

None of it is consultancy: we will not tell you how to build the management system we would then audit, because a body cannot impartially certify its own advice.

Intellectual property

The content, design and code of this site, and the Calibre name and marks, belong to us or to our licensors. You may read, print and share pages for your own information and to tell other people about us. You may not republish our content as your own, or use our name or marks in a way that suggests we endorse or have certified something we have not.

Accreditation and certification marks may only be used by organisations we have certified, within the scope of their certificate and on the terms set out in their certification agreement. Misuse of a mark, or a misleading claim about the scope of a certificate, is grounds for us to require its correction and, if it is not corrected, to suspend or withdraw the certificate.

Other sites we link to

Where we link to another organisation's site we do so because we think it is useful. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their handling of your data.

Availability

We aim to keep this site available and correct, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from anything harmful. We may change or withdraw any part of it without notice.

Our liability to you

This site is provided for information. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of it, or from reliance on anything published on it, and in particular for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss of business.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. If you are a consumer, these terms do not affect your statutory rights.

Complaints and appeals

If you are unhappy with something we have done, tell us at team@calibre.ac and we will acknowledge it and tell you who is handling it. A certified organisation may appeal a certification decision; an appeal is decided by people who were not involved in the decision being appealed, and submitting one does not disadvantage the appellant. Anyone may complain about a certified organisation or about us. The route and the timescales and, for clients, are set out in the certification agreement.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and the version on this page is the one that applies.

Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
